Event Summary
The fifth annual LDC Forum took place for the first time in Helsinki, Finland. It was a hybrid event powered by Deal Room platform.
As Covid-19 restrictions start to lift and vaccination rollouts continue, in-person events start to arise. The former is one of the reasons why hybrid events are becoming increasingly popular. Hybrid events, due to their combination of on-site and virtual components, require several things that need to be taken care of such as health and safety policies, beverages and snacks, how to keep both audiences, online and offline, engaged between sessions, etc.
Deal Room helped manage the event program by setting up parallel stages with speakers who attended the event either in person or virtual. The guests were given the chance to request and interact in 1:1 meetings that were conducted either on-site, online, or hybrid (online & on-site).
To ensure a seamless experience for the on-site and online guests, Deal Room utilized several tech integrations that proved to help engage and connect attendees regardless of their location, these include:
-
Interpretation integrations for on-site and online guests.
-
Studio Mixing integrations for venue stage and remote speakers.
-
Broadcasting the entire program on the event’s website and other channels like YouTube.
The LDC Future Forum was constituted of the brightest minds in global development with policymakers to stimulate the creation of new solutions to old problems faced by LDCs.
Over 50 speakers were selected through a competitive process from several different countries. The speakers presented their research and findings on issues that are affecting LDCs; almost half of them attended the event virtually (as seen in the photo gallery).
The event was supported by the Foreign Ministry of Finland and organized by the United Nations Office of the High Representative for the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States (UN-OHRLLS) in collaboration with the United Nations University World Institute for Development Economics Research (UNU-WIDER) and the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN).
